Ingredients of Growth
Have you honestly tried your best to grow in some area, or overcome some problem, and despite your best efforts, have been unable to succeed? Maybe you can identify with a time like that, or maybe you are in a time like that at present. Or, maybe you are growing and things are working, but you don’t really know why. In any case, it can be very helpful to understand the ingredients that have to be present for growth to take place.

Obedience
Obedience sounds so simple. You may hear people say, "Just trust and obey," "Just follow Jesus," or "Just obey the Bible." However, most people who have been into growth for any length of time know that these statements are more accurate when you remove the word just. This is because, although God helps us to obey him, obedience is anything but simple.

What Sort of Tale Have We Fallen Into
Life is more than it appears to be. Is it a serious of random events or is there something bigger going on? We now live between the battle for Helm’s Deep. Between the beaches of Normandy and the end of the war. Between the fall of the Republic and the fall of the Empire. Between Paradise lost and Paradise regained. We live in a far more dramatic, far more dangerous Story that we ever imagined. The reason we love Star Wars or Matrix or The Lord of The Rings is because they are telling us something about our lives that we never, ever get on reminding us of the Epic we are created for. This is the sort of tale you’ve fallen into. How would you live differently if you believed it to be true?

Overcoming The Fear Factor In Sharing Your Faith
Have you ever felt the tug of wanting to share your faith with someone and then didn’t? Have you ever known a friend for some time, prayed for him or her, and yet the time “never seemed right” to share with that person?
